Konkan House, Watercolour on Paper, (10.5" x 14")
(Actually Ko-Kan as pronounced in Marathi)
This is my first post in the new year. So let me take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy, prosperous, fulfulling and artistic new year. May we all achieve greater success in our artistic endeavours.
This is a typical house from Konkan ( the western coastal region of Maharashtra). The place is hilly and so most houses have rooms at slightly different levels from each other. I did this from a photograph I took in Guhagar and a couple of sketches done on site.
All critiques and comments are most welcome.

Vinayak, you grow and improve with each posting. I love this painting!! The blues and violets melting into the oranges on the right hand side are luscious, and the calligraphic detailing on the bricks on the near right subtly add to the intensity of that side of the painting. The foreground shadows are perfect, just enough to add interest there. A big BRAVO for you!!!
Thank you so much Kathryn. I use the great artist Milind Mulick's funda. He says if 1 out of 20 paintings turns out well you should be happy. But since I am not a tenth as good as he is, I feel happy if 1 out 50 attempts turns out well. ;)
Very nice painting. i love the colours. It's great to see paintings that depict India.
Thank you so much Heather.
