Charcoal Sketches

The Gaze, Charcoal on Paper, 15" X 11"

Happy Girl, Charcoal on Paper, 15" X 11"

Tried out some new, advanced techniques in charcoal here that are bolder and riskier to what I am used to. (These techniques are new to me although they are well established for ages). No doubt I need more practice until I can make my drawings look convincing. :)
All comments and critiques are most welcome.

Vinayak, it's good to see a post from you! The drawings are superb! What "new" technique with charcoal are you working with?

Such a great job with your new charcoal techniques. Your drawing skills are fabulous to begin with, but is is always exciting to try new things.

Love the energy I feel in those portraits especially the Happy girl ! Always fun to try new techniques and really great when they pan out like they did here :)

Thank you so much friends. Kathryn, I have tried using the charcoal sock here as seen in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CbU3C1G8ak
It gives a wonderful coverage of a nice midtone value all over. Although I made the sock myself, it seemed to work pretty well. :)
