Seasons Greetings and Hungry Child

Hungry Child, Charcoal on Paper, (19" X 25")
First of all, wish you all a very merry Christmas and a very happy new year. I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season. I did this from a reference photo I actually took hoping to make a landscape out of it. But later when I saw the photo on my computer I felt the gesture of this poor child as he drank something from the vessel very touching. Hence this drawing!
All comments and critiques are most welcome.

Season's Greetings Vinayak. I hope you and your family are all well and happy. I hope the new year 2014 brings all good things your way. I'm glad you showed this picture this way. It is a reminder that all do not have even what the basic needs are for existence. Bittersweet for sure.

Thank you so much Carol and wish you a happy and fulfilling new year too.
The child was clearly under-privileged as I could see his parents toiling away nearby while he was braving the scorching Indian sun. Heartbreaking indeed!

A very Happy New Year to you, Vinayak!
I agree - this is a very touching scene, and it needed the crop to enhance the intimacy of the scene. It looks GREAT!!!
