Old Man

"Old Man", Oil on Canvas, (18" X 14")
I am posting on my blog after a long time. Have been doing lots of drawings lately, but nothing really good enough to be put up here. As always, comments and critiques are most welcome.
Thank you so much for stopping by.

Vinayak, so nice to see you back posting again. This painting of an old man is wonderful.

Good to have you posting again, Vinay! Your subject has such a fascinating face. You have done an enviable job of his beard and eyebrows. My only quibble is the color scheme. I think, with the man having such an intriguing face, I would mute most of the colors and downplay their differences to focus more on your subject.
PS - hope you are not offended by my critique :)

Thank you so much Carol. Thanks a lot Kathryn. I am not the least offended and I totally agree with you. I really dont have enough command over colour to be able to adjust it to suit the requirement of a painting. Thats perhaps one reason why I love charcoal so much :)

My wife and I both like it! As we were talking through it, it occurred to her if you are playing with lighting/colors you might wish to check out the old master Rembrandt! Keep it up
