I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is looking forward to a great year ahead. I too had a great time, especially with the plum cakes my Christian friends shared with me :)

I did this from a small sketch I made in Nagpur. Comments and critiques please.

Moving out of my Comfort Zone

Townscapes and cityscapes have never been my cup of tea. So I finally decided to move out of my comfort zone and try this scene - a crowded marketplace in my hometown of Nagpur. This was an interesting experience and a great eye opener.

Rampur Neighbourhood

My mothers family migrated to Nagpur from Konkan about 80 years ago (before independence).  A very small portion of their once extensive property still remains in Konkan though, with nobody to take care of it, except a small farmer who had leased the land for tilling but hasnt paid his dues for the last 25 years. Recently I had the opportunity to visit this small place. Its in a small village called Rampur. This was my first trip to Konkan.

Anyone who visits the place has to fall in love with the thatched roof houses, fields, palm and coconut trees, temples and hills ( I almost forgot the beaches). No wonder so many artists in India love making paintings of Konkan.

The above painting is of the farmhouse on my great grandpa's farm. Comments and critiques please....

Lonely Tree

Lonely Tree, Watercolour on Paper, (14" x 10.5")

This tree stands in a very nondescript location and surely hasn't caught anyone's attention in all its years. There is nothing special about it, except that it looked so beautiful to me standing in the sun as I went jogging past it. The next day I returned to the same place and made a quick sketch. The sketch seems to me to be much better than this painting. I will surely paint this one again, hoping to be more successful.

P.S. The problem with followers seems to have sorted itself out :)

Problem with my blog!

I woke up today and found that all my friends / followers on blogger have gone. When I signed in I could see 11 followers on my dashboard, but when I view my blog it still says "1 follower" which is me :(.
I hope this problem is only temporary and not very serious.
Have you also seen anything like this happen to your blog? Please let me know guys if there is any solution to this.
